National Geographic photographer to headline Profiles and Perspectives Community Enrichment Series finale

Posted April 18, 2022

ARDMORE, Okla. — National Geographic photographer and Nikon Ambassador Ami Vitale will conclude the 2022 Profiles and Perspectives Community Enrichment Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6.

Entitled Empathy Leads to Impact, Vitale’s talk will be held at the Ardmore Convention Center.

Ami Vitale has traveled to more than 100 countries, capturing images not only of violence and conflict, but also of surreal beauty.

Throughout the years, Vitale has lived in mud huts and war zones, contracted malaria, and donned a panda suit — keeping true to her belief in the importance of “living the story.” In 2009, after shooting a powerful story on the transport and release of one the world’s last white rhinos, she shifted her focus to today’s most compelling wildlife and environmental stories.

Vitale has been named Magazine Photographer of the Year from the  National Press Photographer's Association, Magazine Photographer of the Year in the International Photographer of the Year awards, and received the Daniel Pearl Award for Outstanding Reporting, among other accolades.

Hosted by The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, Empathy Leads to Impact is open to the public and free to attend. Seating is limited, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early.
